SBU detained an agent of GRU, collecting intelligence for Russia in the Kharkov region

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained the informant of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), who was preparing the capture of Volchansk, Kharkov region.

According to the SBU press service to get intelligence about the situation in the north of the Kharkov region, the Russian intelligence service attracted its informant, a local entrepreneur.

“Most of the enemy was interested in the geolocation of the heavy artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces), which holds the assault groups of the invaders trying to capture Volchansk under fire control,” the department noted.

The man, under the guise of solving commercial issues, traveled to the front -line area, where he hiddenly recorded the coordinates of Ukrainian troops.

Also, the defendant "in the dark" used his colleagues and acquaintances, in whom he explored the necessary information during household conversations.

In the future, the agent summarized the information received and dictated to them in voice reports for Russian intelligence.

He described in detail the location of the Armed Forces with binding to local landmarks. The reconnaissance of the Russian Federation planned to be used to prepare aviation and missile strikes.

SBU employees exposed the Russian informant and detained him. Currently, the attacker is in custody. He faces up to eight years in prison.
