
Argentina joined the international coalition to return Ukrainian children illegally deported by Russia. This was stated by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets.
According to him, recently the Ukrainian delegation visited Argentina, where she held meetings at the highest level calling to join the international coalition.
He expressed gratitude to Argentina for support.
“Despite the great distance between us, we are close in values in the matter of the importance of returning home to all deported children,” Lubinets emphasized.
As of mid -May 2024, Ukraine confirmed the illegal export of more than 19 thousand children.
The international coalition upon the return of Ukrainian children was jointly created by Ukraine and Canada in early February 2024. Since February, 37 countries joined this coalition, including all members of the Big Seven.
On March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court in The Hagueissued an arrest warrant of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the authorized for children of the Russian Federation, Maria Lviv-Belova. They are suspected of illegal export of Ukrainian children from occupied territories to Russia.
In July 2023, the office of the Prosecutor General began to investigate the participation of the Belarusian Red Cross in the deportation of Ukrainian children.
