Tinkoff Bank has rebranded and changed its name. Now the credit institution is called T-Bank, the press service reported .
“TCS Holding announces a new stage in the brand’s development – Tinkoff is evolving into T-Bank,” the statement reads.
They also presented a new logo. The bank's name is written on a yellow background, and the letter "T" is located on a shield. They called the simplification of the credit institution's name a logical step: "We have long ago introduced "T" into circulation within the company, many services for the team have long been named in this logic: T-kitchen, TWork, T-Game, and so on. This is also an organic way to combine all our products and services with one letter, without unnecessary words."
The bank's name change and rebranding were first announced in 2022. At that time, the founder of the credit institution, Oleg Tinkov, spoke out against the war in Ukraine. It soon became known that the businessman had sold his stake in TCS Group — 35% of the shares — to Vladimir Potanin's investment company Interros.
At the end of October 2022, Tinkov announced his renunciation of Russian citizenship by publishing a corresponding document on his Instagram. The next day, the post disappeared . Tinkov blamed "Kremlin trolls" for this. At the same time, he said that he wanted to withdraw the Tinkoff brand from the new owners of the bank he created. He proposed renaming the credit institution "Potanin Bank".
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Oleg Tinkov was subject to sanctions by the US and UK. However, on July 20, 2023, it became known that the UK lifted sanctions against him.
