Barnaul: A rally was held against euthanasia of stray dogs
About 200 people gathered for a coordinated rally against the law on euthanasia of homeless animals in Barnaul, the Siberian Express reports and says Nemoskva.
The rally was agreed with the authorities and went to the local guide park. According to the organizer Evgenia Borovikova, the law preparing in the Legislative Assembly of the region is contrary to federal legislation, since the uncontrolled extermination of homeless animals may lead to. Deputies propose to allow the murder of incurably sick and aggressive animals.
The rally participants came, including with their pets.
In July 2023, the regions received the right to independently decide what to do with homeless animals from the federal center: to continue to implement the federal OSVV program (capture - sterilization - vaccination - return) or approve their methods. This happened against the backdrop of the regular calls of the regional authorities, in particular Siberia and the Far East, to allow shooting or euthanizing homeless dogs. The relevant laws were adopted in Buryatia, in Altai, in the Chukotka, in the Astrakhan region and Magadan.
The authorities of Transbaikalia banned the release of homeless dogs back to the street after Olov. Animals will be kept at time points, after which they will be either sent to a shelter, they will be adopted.
