This film is a farewell with a big and important stage in my life, which ended forever with the death of Alexei. I would call this stage a faith in the myth of the beautiful Russia of the future, faith, which was alive, while the bulk was alive ... The new film by journalist and documentary director Andrei Loshak* is called "The age of disagreement. 2024 ". This is a continuation of the documentary series “The age of disagreement”, which he also shot in 2018. His heroes then became young activists of Navalny’s headquarters ** from different cities of Russia - Murmansk, Tula, Tomsk, Kaliningrad ... All of them took part in the pre -election campaign of Navalny in the 2018 presidential election. Some themselves tried to get into local authorities, but, of course, they did not allow them to do this. All of them, despite the endless threats, detention, searches, broken windows in the offices and the doors in apartments flooded with foam, were inspired by the very dream of the beautiful Russia of the future and faith in their unconditional leader. All amazed to young fearlessness. Then everyone except one, fleeing the persecution, was forced to leave Russia. Those who did not go to prison, having received a huge time.
Almost six years later, Andrei Loshak decided to find out how and what his young heroes live now: in the USA, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania ... The most accurate diagnosis of his and his comrades is made by the former coordinator of the Murmansk Staff ** Violetta Becti: “Infected by Russia”. He says that he feels the patient, sits on antidepressants. She left for Vilnius later than others, so completely experienced a ruthless skating rink of the system. To her house, they were broken with searches, leaflets with a description of her “destructive appearance” were placed in mailboxes to neighbors.
In the pandemic, her healthy, forcibly hospitalized and even opened a criminal case under the so -called sanitary article. Tomsk activist Ksenia Fadeeva even managed to be a deputy of the Tomsk City Duma. Her mother recalls her daughter’s words: “People voted for me. I want a good country - why should I leave? " Late at night on the eve of the New Year, a whole detachment of special forces armed to the teeth broke into their house. Young guys, the rest of the heroes of "age of disagreement. 2018 ”, somehow settled in new habitats. They graduated from foreign colleges or universities, found or are looking for a suitable job. But only one of them, Oleg, settled in the Czech Republic, is pleased with how his fate and career develops. The rest are ill and cannot come to terms with the fact that they have lost their homeland and the meaning of life.
The film was in black in early February and thought, albeit small, but the support of Alexei Navalny in imprisonment and an extra reason to draw attention to his situation. Navalny’s death completely changed the final. “I was sitting in Tbilisi, stunned by this news, looked at the hard workers and did not understand what to do with it now. And most importantly - why, if the last ray of hope went out and complete darkness came. Work on the continuation of the series has become the most painful in my life. ”
And yet. Still. In the final of the film, people, among whom are a huge many very young, say goodbye to Navalny. They carry flowers to the monument to the victims of political repression, and one very young girl, hesitating, does not immediately obey the order "not to delay the movement." Her and other little boys of the same boys begin to crowd the ranks of tall, armed to the teeth of the Rosgvardeis. Do not forget her complete bewilderment and the question addressed to them: "Why?" She repeats everything and repeats this “why?”, And they all rod and rod on it with all its mass. And then the people at the church are desperately shouting: "Let me say goodbye!" - And they flow an endless river along the snowy, icy streets to the cemetery. A microphone correspondent stops young guys and asks: "What legacy did Navalny leave?" One of them looks around this endless stream of people and answers concisely: "Here it is, this is a legacy."
And in this finale, against the background of total hopelessness, some timid glimpse of hope. As in the words cited by Alexei himself in court from the Bible, who end the film: “Blessed are thirsty and hungry truths. For they will be saturated. "
