On June 6, the Yoshkar-Ola City Court sentenced Dmitry Obmaikin in absentia to five years in a general regime penal colony in the case of disseminating military "fakes" motivated by political hatred (clause "d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). This was reported to OVD-Info by the court's press service.
The convicted man was also given three years of restraining orders, but the court did not specify what exactly.
Obmaikin is outside Russia. Security officials said he was put on the international wanted list.
The case was filed with the court on May 15. The reason for the prosecution could have been Obmaikin's anti-war posts on VKontakte.
