The countries of the "Big Seven" (USA, Japan, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy and Canada) agreed that Russia must pay for losses incurred by Ukraine. Now this amount, according to the World Bank, is $ 486 billion, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal.
“It is Russian money that should become a key source of long -term restoration of our state,” the Ukrinsky prime minister emphasized.
Russia does not have the right to decide whether it will pay for damage caused to Ukraine, and when exactly, ” according to the Kommunik following the results of the G7 summit in Italy.
According to international law, Russia's obligations to pay for the damage that it causes are clear, the leaders of the "large seven" believe.
"Therefore, we continue to consider all the possible legal paths by which Russia will be obliged to fulfill these obligations," the communique says.
On the eve of the country, the G7 came to an agreement on the provision of additional financial support to Ukraine in the amount of about $ 50 billion through the end of the year through a credit mechanism, for the repayment of which superprofits from Russian assets can be used.
Such support will be provided not by the confiscation of Russian assets themselves, but by using profit from these assets, which accumulates over time.
We are talking about a proposal of the United States, which provides that the G7 will provide Ukraine with a loan of $ 50 billion, which will be paid at the expense of income received from frozen assets of Russia.
Ukraine insists on the confiscation of frozen Russian sovereign and private assets. It is about obtaining the entire amount that is more than 300 billion dollars.
