Putin began flying to Russian regions accompanied by fighter jets

Vladimir Putin arrived in Yakutsk on a special flight, which was accompanied by at least one fighter jet, the Agency noted . As the Agency writes, this is the first time since the beginning of the war that Putin's plane is accompanied by military aircraft during a trip to one of the Russian regions. Previously, such a practice was used only during his foreign trips. In particular, Dmitry Peskov explained the presence of fighters accompanying plane No. 1 during Putin's visit to the UAE and Saudi Arabia by security considerations.

The Agency notes that in January 2024, before Putin’s visit to Kaliningrad, Dmitry Peskov was asked whether the president would be accompanied by fighter jets, but he then answered this question evasively, noting that “special security measures are applied wherever [the matter] concerns the head of state.”

According to local media, Putin came to Yakutsk to get acquainted with the achievements and development prospects of the region, to talk with graduates of the V.A. Bosikov Higher School of Music and to meet with the head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev.

In addition, as the SakhaLife publication writes , during the trip Putin wants to pay attention to the development of the Far East, as well as the implementation of the programs "Zemsky Doctor", "Zemsky Teacher", "Muravyov-Amursky-2030". This trip was Putin's first visit to Yakutia in the last 10 years, the publication notes.
