Reindeer Afonya escaped from a zoo farm in the Moscow region

A reindeer named Afonya escaped from the Shikhovo Zoo Farm in Dmitrov, Moscow Region. The animal was scared by a thunderstorm. This was reported by the Moscow 125 Telegram channel and the Regions.ru portal .

The Moscow 125 Telegram channel, citing zoo workers, claims that the deer is "tame and harmless." "It was spotted in the villages of Levkovo and Staro in the Dmitrovsky District, and in the evening near Dmitrovskoye Highway (exit to the Central Ring Road). Its current location is unknown," the publication says.

The Regions.ru publication, citing the chief reindeer herder of Shikhovo, Viktor, claims that a herd of reindeer was grazing in a field when the storm began. The animals were frightened by the sounds of thunder and flashes of lightning, and they began to scatter. The zoo farm workers were able to calm down almost all the reindeer, except one.

Regions.ru notes that Afonya the deer, like other animals on the farm, is not adapted to life in the wild. The publication notes that the animal may be threatened not only by the lack of its usual food, but also by the numerous hunting grounds in the region. According to the publication, Afonya was brought to the farm six months ago from the Kola Peninsula.
