The United States imposed sanctions against the leadership of the Kaspersky Laboratory

The US Department of Finance imposed sanctions against the heads of the Russian developer of antivirus programs “Kaspersky Laboratory”, the press service of the department reports.

“Today's actions against the leadership of the Kaspersky Lab emphasize our commitment to ensure the integrity of our cyberspace and protect our citizens from malicious cyberosis,” Brian Nelson, Deputy Minister of Finance, commented on the decision of the department.

In total, 12 people fell under the sanctions. Among them are members of the Board of Directors of Kaspersky Laboratory, Daniil Borschev, Andrei Efremov and Igor Chekunov, as well as the vice president of the company Andrei Dukhov, the head of the business unit Andrei Suvorov, the head of the corporate communications department Denis Zenkin and the director of personnel work Marina Alekseeva.

In addition to them, the restrictions were affected by executive vice presidents of Mikhail Gerbera and Kirill Astrakhan, technical director of Anton Ivanov and managing director Anna Kulashova.

At the same time, the company itself and its founder Yevgeny Kaspersky did not fall under sanctions, notes Reuters.

• On the eve of the US authorities , a ban on the sale of antivirus software of the Kaspersky Laboratory in the country has been banned from national security. Since July 20, Kaspersky Laboratory is prohibited to conclude new agreements in the United States, and from September 29 - provide updates to existing customers.
• The Kaspersky Labokel has been concerned about the US authorities since 2017 - they suspect the company of ties with Russian intelligence services. According to American officials, the Russian government has full access to the company's systems and therefore to all its customers. In the same year, the US authorities banned state institutions to use the Kaspersky Antivirus. In the spring of 2022, the US Federal Communications Commission included it in the list of companies whose equipment threatens the country's national security.
