Shaman and Polina Gagarina hit with EU sanctions for supporting Putin

Artists Shaman and Polina Gagarina were included in the sanctions list of the European Union. The document notes that restrictions were imposed on them due to their support for the Putin regime.

"Polina Gagarina regularly speaks out at state propaganda events, such as those in honor of the illegal annexation of four Ukrainian regions or the anniversary of the annexation of Crimea. In this way, she supports actions that undermine the territorial integrity of Ukraine," the document explains .

It also reported that since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Gagarina has received “significant income through her frequent participation in state-sponsored propaganda events and programs.” In 2022, Latvia and Estoniabanned Gagarina from entering their territories. Canada also previously imposed sanctions against her.

Singer Shaman (Yaroslav Dronov) was included on the list due to concerts he gave in the Ukrainian territories annexed by Russia, in particular, “as part of military entertainment events for the Russian Armed Forces.”

“Yaroslav Dronov supports actions and policies that undermine the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” the document says.

In addition, the EU also imposed sanctions against media manager Aram Gabrelyanov, actor Ivan Okhlobystin, the Artek camp, Sovcomflot, Ural Airlines and several Russian factories. In total, 116 individuals and legal entities fell under European sanctions. The list also included companies from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and the UAE.
