The forces of special operations of Ukraine were struck by over 30 Russian oil refineries, terminals and oil depots, said President Vladimir Zelensky at a meeting with the military.
Congratulating the fighters of the Center for Special Operations “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine on the anniversary, Zelensky said that the Ukrainians “should be grateful” for their blows to Russian oil refineries. “And over 30 oil refineries, terminals, and oil depots are already affected,” Zelensky said.
He added that the distance of 1,500 kilometers is no longer a “no problem” for the Drones of the SBU.
- Over the past months, the Ukrainian military regularly attack Russian oil refineries with drones. Some of them, who attacked, in particular, enterprises in Tatarstan, have alreadyovercome distances of about 1,500 kilometers. Another enterprise located at a distance of more than 1,500 kilometers was attacked in Bashkortostan.
- In March 2024, the newspaper Financial Times said that the US authorities called for Ukraine to stop attacks on the energy infrastructure of Russia, fearing the growth of world oil prices and the aggressive response of Russia. In response, Zelensky stated that Ukraine could not defend himself from Russian attacks on the country's energy system due to lack of air defense and added that Russian society should "learn to live without gasoline, without diesel fuel, without electricity."
- In April 2024, according to The Washington Post, Vice-President of USA Kamal Harris turned to Zelensky with the same request. However, the request of Harris “caused irritation” of Zelensky, who “dismissed” from the recommendation of the US Vice President.
