The Higher School of Economics is collecting funds to purchase reconnaissance drones for the Russian military. The funds are being collected through the Vladimir Solovyov Foundation. The rector of the university, Nikita Anisimov, told the Lugansk Information Center about this.
According to Anisimov, this is not the first collection held by the university. Both mobilized university employees and students who left for the front voluntarily, asking for academic leave for this, are at war in Ukraine. And to all of them, as Anisimov claims, the university "collects and brings what it can."
"For example, we bought antennas. The guys were bombed, and they called us, said that the "birds" were preventing them from going out and they needed antennas. We urgently collected money and brought new antennas in 12 hours," he explained.
At the moment, according to Anisimov, students who serve in the reconnaissance battalion do not have enough reconnaissance drones.
"We announced a collection for such drones because this is not cheap equipment, but at the same time it serves as a consumable. We try to have a supply from HSE every two or three months," he noted.
The rector also added that a patriotic organization of students called “White Raven” was formed at the HSE, which communicates with volunteers located in Ukraine.
"Some of our volunteers are, in fact, guys from this organization who went to the front. We support them from the administration. In general, there are channels of interaction between the Higher School of Economics and the front," Anisimov said.
In addition, according to Anisimov, the university administration tries to support the families of Russian servicemen in every possible way. For example, it helps with providing a ticket to a summer children's camp or finding a tutor.
