Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov responded to the words of the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin about the ban on religious clothing that covers the face. He published a corresponding post on his Telegram channel.
"I would like to tell Aleksandr Ivanovich that one must be extremely careful in such statements. I have said many times and I emphasize once again that Muslims have not committed and do not commit terrorist acts. At the same time, I very much hope that Aleksandr Bastrykin will not compare Islam with terrorism in the future," Kadyrov wrote.
He stressed that no religion “tells its followers to engage in the murder of innocent people and commit cruel, bloody massacres” and advised Bastrykin not to “confuse religions with the crazy ideas of rabid fanatics and shaitans, who can call themselves whatever they want, but in no way have any relation to the holy scriptures.”
According to Kadyrov, if high-ranking officials make statements like Bastrykin did earlier, "this could end extremely badly for the socio-political situation in the country." The head of Chechnya said that the people of Russia are currently "united and united as never before." "We need to value this factor, and not divide society by good and bad religions," Kadyrov concluded.
Bastrykinspoke about the ban on niqabs at the International Youth Legal Forum on June 29. One of the visitors told the head of the Investigative Committee that in Central Asian countries, for example, in Uzbekistan, it is forbidden to wear religious clothing that covers the face. "Those who cannot wear a niqab there move here and wear it in Russia," said the forum visitor. He asked the head of the Investigative Committee whether it is possible to introduce a ban on religious clothing that covers the face in Russia.
"It is the State Duma's task to pass a law banning what you are talking about. It is banned there, but allowed here. Why? I don't know, I am not a legislator. I agree with you, all of this must be banned urgently," Bastrykin said.
