WP: In the Belgorod Region, at least 38 Russian air bombs fell over the year

At least 38 controlled bombs launched by Russian aviation fell in the Belgorod region from April 2023 to April 2024. Most of them did not explode. This was written by the American newspaper The Washington Post with reference to a document intercepted by Ukrainian intelligence and transferred to journalists.

The document, supposedly, was prepared by the city department for emergency situations of Belgorod. It has a table of incidents with reports on the elimination of the consequences of explosions and evacuation of people.

At least four air bombs fell on Belgorod, seven more found in the suburbs. The remaining shells fell in other areas of the Belgorod region. The most emergency falls of bombs were recorded in the Gravivoronsky district on the border with Ukraine - 11 such ammunition was found here.

Most of these unexploded bombs were found by local residents - foresters, farmers or villagers. In most cases, the Ministry of Defense did not know when it was an abnormal munition gathering. Local authorities, as a rule, remain silent about these incidents.

The Washington Post refers to the Russian publication Astra, which found out that many incidents in the document coincide with the data received from local authorities, as well as with messages in local media. People mentioned as witnesses are confirmed as residents of Belgorod, notes WP.

For the first time, the Ministry of Defense of Russia recognized the "emergency gathering of aviation ammunition" from the Su-34 aircraft, which flew over Belgorod, in April 2023. Then, as a result of the explosion, the car was thrown onto the roof of the store and a funnel was formed with a diameter of 20 meters.

In May, The Insider calculated that since the beginning of 2024 in the Belgorod Region, emergency falls of Russian air bombs have occurred at least 39 times. In total, according to the estimates of the ASTRA publication, Russian aviation thus dropped 110 bombs to Russian regions and annexed territories.
