Scholz sharply reacted to Orban's proposal about the ceasefire in Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Sholts said that his country did not support the ceasefire aimed at the surrender of Ukraine, the ASB Zeitung publication reports.

“In my opinion, the ceasefire, the purpose of which is the surrender of Ukraine, we cannot support from Germany,” Scholz emphasized.

According to him, this is not an abstract question, which can be judged by the "peculiar peaceful proposal" of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

According to Sholts, this shows, "how cynically they think and that the Russian president is not going to stop his aggressive war at all."

Putin speaks only of peace negotiations to continue the war. “We will not tolerate this,” Sholts assured.

Earlier, Putin said that Russia is ready to stop hostilities and start negotiations with Ukraine, but for this Ukrainian troops should be completely withdrawn from the Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions.

During a visit to Kiev on July 2, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban suggested that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky consider the possibility of a ceasefire in order to speed up peace negotiations with Russia.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva, commenting on this proposal of Orban, said that Ukraine has its own plan how to achieve peace. In particular, the first summit of the world in Switzerland was held and preparations for the second were underway.

Advisor to the head of the presidential office, Mikhail Podolyak, explained why Orban urged Ukraine to cease fire.
