Deputy of the Yaroslavl Regional Duma and director of the Yaroslavl Zoo Teimuraz Baratashvili proposed making men the heads of the family at the legislative level regardless of their wishes. This is reported by Kommersant.
Baratashvili claims that this method can solve the problem of the large number of divorces and abortions in Russia. In his opinion, the current figures pose a threat to the country. "It is men who are the bearers of innate morality and altruism, developed through the collective experience of hunting and protecting the tribe," the deputy believes.
Baratashvili stated that the father should be the head of the family, and this should not be a man's right, but his duty. According to the deputy, at the moment, Russian legislation "has moved the father away from performing the functions of the Head of the Family."
"The state's declaration of equality of both parents in relation to the child, unfortunately, leads to the weakening of the paternal principle in the family. This is evidenced by numerous cases of men leaving the family, indifference to children, lack of interest in performing educational functions," says Baratashvili.
At the same time, the official did not explain what he meant by "responsibility for the fate of the family and children" that a man should take upon himself. In addition, Baratashvili proposed to abolish equal rights in the issue of pay for men and women and criticized feminism. The deputy said that mothers should be encouraged non-materially, securing for them "special state significance" and the opportunity to work less than men.
“It is necessary to legislatively establish that the remuneration of a man-father is significantly higher than that of a woman-mother, which corresponds to the biological foundations of a man-breadwinner who enjoys well-deserved authority in the family,” the deputy said.
Earlier it became known that Russia is going to develop a system of marriage using biometrics without presenting a paper passport. In addition, the State Duma proposed introducing mandatory mediation before divorce, and before that the Ministry of Finance decided to increase the cost of divorce from 650 rubles to five thousand.
