In the second quarter of 2024, at least 207 collective labor conflicts occurred in Russia, according to a report by ZabastKom.
Of these, 44% of conflicts were caused by delayed wages, 28% by the level of wages, 7% by working conditions, 6% by dismissals and 5% by management policies.
In the first quarter of the year, the level of conflicts was almost the same, and in just the first half of the year, ZabastKom recorded 408 labor conflicts in Russia. It is possible that the overall level of conflicts will exceed that of previous years : for the whole of 2023, ZabastKom registered 766 labor conflicts, in 2022 - 575 conflicts, and in 2021 - 397.
During the conflict, workers resorted to:
At the same time, over the years, strikes and street actions have increasingly given way to appeals and complaints to the executive branch: in 2023, appeals, according to ZabastKom, were used in 69.4% of conflicts, and strikes in 10.4%.
The sociologist of labor protest Petr Bizyukov came to the same conclusions: according to his calculations , the prevalence of strikes as a method of influence in labor conflicts in 2008–2020 fell from 43% of conflicts to 20%. At the same time, the effectiveness of strikes in fulfilling demands decreased, and the risks increased. Appeals to the authorities increased from 3% of labor conflicts in 2008 to 57% in 2021.
