And the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Mauritania, Morocco, Qatar, Tunisia and the UAE gathered into the American capital.

On one list, it is clear that the issues of the entire spectrum of world politics were discussed here. In addition to formal results and documents, the central of which was the summit declaration, agreements were concluded that would be formalized in the future.

Under pressure

75 years ago an agreement on the creation of NATO was signed in Washington. Behind the facade of the demonstration of the solidarity of the "most long and most powerful in history" the Military-Political Union was the main unresolved question: who would become the "leader of the free world" after the November elections in the United States. Donald Trump has its own rather radical ideas about how America should support NATO - financially and most importantly politically. What are his words at the pre -election rally in February that, when he was president, he told one of the leaders of NATO countries that he would not defend his country from the Russian attack if it does not fulfill financial obligations to the Alliance to spend at least 2% of GDP for its defense needs? Trump said that he would not only not protect, but also allow Russia to "do whatever she wants."

Another question, in the past, the words and actions of Trump - candidate and president - often did not match. Then the White House called Trump's statement “shocking”. It undermines the main principle of NATO-“collective security”, recorded in the 5th article of the alliance charter. If someone attacks the NATO state, everyone else comes to the rescue. According to President Harry Truman a year after the signing of the Washington Treaty in the Inaugural Speech: “The main goal of the North Atlantic Treaty is to erase any possible doubts and uncertainty that may lurk in the minds of potential aggressors.”

For the oldest in the history of the American president (which will be 82 in November), the NATO summit became the opportunity to demonstrate its political, physical and mental competence against the backdrop of failure television battles two weeks ago. In the days of the Washington summit with calls to Biden, the one -party members from Congress came out of the distance - today 14 members of the House of Representatives and one senator (but the number is growing every day). NATO condemns military cooperation with Russia by Iran, North Korea and, above all, China.
