Entrepreneur and owner of the social network X (formerly Twitter) Elon Musk said that there have been two assassination attempts on him in the last eight months. He wrote about this on his X page.
"There are dangerous times ahead. In the last eight months, two people have tried to kill me on separate occasions. They were arrested with guns about 20 minutes from Tesla's Texas headquarters," Musk said.
Following the assassination attempt on US presidential candidate Trump, Elon Musk posted several messages on his page demanding the resignation of the head of the US Secret Service. "Extreme incompetence or intentional. Either way, the [Secret Service] leadership needs to resign," Musk wrote .
Musk also came out in support of Trump, calling him president. "I fully support President Trump and hope for his speedy recovery," the businessman wrote .
An assassination attempt on Donald Trump occurred during his speech in Pennsylvania. The FBIidentified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was shot dead on the spot.
Trump was shot in the ear. He was taken to the hospital and released soon after. According to the Associated Press, the politician flew to New Jersey, where he plans to spend the night at his private golf club. The publication also reports that current US President Joe Biden has returned to the White House, cutting short a weekend trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
The Guardian reports that the US House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Accountability has called US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to testify. "Americans demand answers about the assassination attempt on President Trump," the committee said in a statement.
The hearing in the investigation into the assassination attempt on Trump is scheduled for July 22.
