A resident of Perm, whom investigators suspect of killing her son, has been charged. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee for Perm Krai.
"The investigation established that on the night of July 11-12, 2024, the accused, while in her apartment in the Motovilikha District of Perm, murdered her 9-year-old son by strangulation, after which she left stab wounds on the child's body. In order to conceal the traces of the crime, the accused moved the child's body in a suitcase to garbage containers in the Leninsky District of Perm," the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
The woman's detention became known the day before. The Investigative Committee's press service claims that her name is Irina Shatova and she is 34 years old. Later, the press service published a video of the woman's detention.
The Investigative Committee noted that Shatova did not admit her guilt. The investigation intends to request a preventive measure in the form of detention for her. The press service also stated that the Investigative Committee officers inspected the scene of the incident, and are currently searching for and questioning witnesses and conducting the necessary examinations.
It became known on July 12 that a suitcase with a child's body was found near garbage containers. The regional Investigative Committee then stated that the child was presumably between six and eight years old. The suitcase with his body was found by a local resident. It was later revealed that the child was nine years old.
The Investigative Committee for Perm Krai also published a video of a woman in a white long sleeve carrying a suitcase. Other videos of Shatova appeared on Telegram channels. At the same time, a criminal case was opened under the article on "murder of a minor or other person, obviously in a helpless state for the perpetrator" (clause "b" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code).
