The residents of Rostov-on-Don, Kuban, Crimea, North Ossetia, Stavropol Territory, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and Dagestan collided with temporary shutdowns of the world.
On July 17, a new maximum of power consumption during extremely high temperatures was installed in the Unified Energy System of Russia (EEC). By 14:00 Moscow time, energy consumption reached 137,730 MW, which was 3,631 above the last maximum of the PEVT, which was held on August 7, 2023.
“Yesterday ( July 16. - approx. Ed. ) The situation in the energy system occurred, when for the first time in the history of its existence the summer maximum consumption exceeded the traditional winter. This suggests that now the energy system is on its maximum capabilities, ” said the deputy head of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation Evgeny Grabchak.
From July 10 to 16, summer maximum consumptions were achieved in the Saratov, Voronezh, Omsk, Tver, Kaliningrad, Tambov, Oryol regions, the republics of Dagestan, Kalmykia, Altai and Altai Territory, as well as in the annexed Sevastopol and Crimea. The “system operator” EEC notes that the influx of tourists and the widespread use of air conditioners and other cooling equipment led to an increase in electricity consumption.
On July 16, in the south of Russia, temporary graphs of energy consumption restrictions were introduced at 1.5 GW. Later, the volume was reduced by 500 MW. The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation explained that such a measure is associated with a failure in the operation of generating equipment at the Rostov NPP. The station provides about 75% of electricity production in the Rostov region.
In Rosatom, it was clarified that the first power unit of the station was disconnected on July 16 in the afternoon due to "false operation of the protection of the generator by the action of automation." Three power units of nuclear power plants worked as usual, the fourth has been on planned repairs since June 22. As the expert of the “Safety of Radioactive Waste” program, the Russian Social and Ecological Union Andrei Ozharovsky, explained , the real reason for stopping the power unit may be overheating of the Tsimlyansk reservoir, due to which it is cooled.
The Ministry of Housing and Public Utilities of the Rostov Region added that the “fan” power outages of the power supply limit the operation of water and sewer stations, water -beam towers and wells, as well as boiler houses in municipalities.
In the case of disconnecting electricity, the authorities must connect them to reserve power sources, as well as organize water supply.
Later, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation reported that the power supply of all consumers in the south of Russia was restored after failures against the background of anomalous heat.
However, on the afternoon of July 17, a temporary shutdown of electricity was again introduced in the Rostov region, Crimea and Sevastopol. The Krymeenergo company explained that the measure is temporary and is associated with risks of emergency shutdowns due to abnormal heat and increased electricity consumption.
The Governor of Sevastopol, appointed by Russia, Mikhail Podvozhaev said that thanks to the disconnection of light at large facilities, it was possible to maintain the supply of electricity to residential buildings.
“Now the Sea Mall shopping shopping center is disconnected, and the Musso shopping center is next in line. The supply of energy to large construction sites is also limited. The further disconnection of entrepreneurs will be informed individually. I ask you to treat this step with understanding. This is a forced measure, ”the official said.

Local residents thanked for the decision to return electricity to residential buildings, but at the same time tried to attract the attention of Razvozhaev to the 38-degree heat in kindergartens.
Residents of Rostov in social networks blame the authorities in the construction of new residential complexes instead of the reconstruction of the mains.
Readers of the local portal 161.ru, in particular, write :
“Why do we pay a lot of money? To sit at +40 in the heat without air conditioning with young children? "
"Build the man even more and even more, and every summer we will sit without light"
“In winter, the frost cut off the wires and our administration could not cope, people sat without heating and light for a week !!! And now in +40 the heat disabled old, not repaired power networks on time. Summer and winter are to blame! And the administration has nothing to do with "
In Krasnodar, due to the heat of the electricity shutdown graphics were introduced until July 19. The 17th fire occurred in the city park of Sergey Galitsky. The fire arose in the energy center where the tools are stored. The reason has not yet been called.
And in Buryatia (which Putin mentioned in his speech about miners) yesterday due to the accident at the Gusinoozersky GRES ( https://t.me/astrapress/59791 ), more than 115 thousand people remained without light.
Vladimir Putin, at a meeting on economic issues, said on July 17 that the uncontrolled growth in electricity consumption for cryptocurrency mining (mining) can lead to capacity deficit in certain regions. According to him, this is already noticeable in the Irkutsk region, Buryatia, the Trans -Baikal Territory.
Putin stated, referring to the assessments of the Ministry of Energy, which in Russia annually consumed for mining of 16 billion kilowatt-hours, almost one and a half percent of the total electricity consumption in the country.
In the evening of July 16, more than 115 thousand people were left in Buryatia without light. 190 socially significant objects fell under the disconnection. By the morning of July 17, Buryateenergo reported on the restoration of power supply.
The mayor of the city of Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol Territory, whose inhabitants also collided with the disconnection of the light, called on local residents to "not whine" due to interruptions.
“I already wrote that enough to whine, we have become some kind of greenhouse. Go to Shebekino, see how they live there without light, ”the head of the city Mikhail Minenko told Rise.
In his telegram-channel, the Thirteenth, the wire blogger, complained that due to the drawdown in power, the whole south of Russia was forced to switch to fan shutdown of power supply.
“And the accident occurred due to the fact that the Ukrainians hit the Rostov-500 substation, and because of this there was a total power of power on the network, because of this, a generator at the nuclear power plant,” he wrote , proposing to “hit“ calibers ”at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant as a warning.”
