В итоге вместо «Гафура Черного» на выборах в IBA победил другой человек с уголовным прошлым — за Кремлева проголосовали 57% членов ассоциации. IBA — либо формально, либо искренне — начала дисциплинарную проверку прошлого нового руководителя. Именно тут и сыграла свою роль новая фамилия — на Умаре Кремлеве, в отличие от Лутфуллоева, судимостей не числится.

Как и с российской федерацией, глобальную организацию на момент прихода Кремлева тоже мучали проблемы. Многомиллионные долги, обвинения в коррупции и бан от Международного олимпийского комитета, запретившего участие в Олимпийских играх. Новый президент заключил спонсорский контракт с «Газпромом», что помогло рассчитаться с долгами, но не нашло одобрения у международного боксерского сообщества и МОК. C началом войны в Украине политическое противостояние с МОК только усилилось.

Теперь Кремлев отчаянно критикует МОК и лично его президента Томаса Баха. Одновременно Кремлев устраивает турниры, не признанные мировым олимпийским движением.

Он организует боксерские бои в дружественных России странах, которые еще не покинули его организацию, и обещает построить им за это боксерские центры.

«Ему явно благоволят в Кремле. Помогают встречаться с лидерами стран. Не первых, но важных», — говорит его знакомый. За последние два года Кремлев встретился с президентами Кубы, Нигерии, Таджикистана, Палестины и Папой Римским.

Во время недавней поездки Путина в Китай Кремлев попал в состав официальной делегации. Во время подписания договора между китайскими властями и «Почтой России» довольный Кремлев даже попал в кадр. Дело в том, что новый директор «Почты» Михаил Волков — это бывший подчиненный Кремлева. Прежде он работал директором «Спортивных лотерей» — той компании, которая получила от властей право продавать россиянам надежду на легкий выигрыш.
