The Soviet District Court of Ryazan has declared the expulsion of student Vladislav Korshunov from the Ryazan State University named after Yesenin illegal. This was reported by the publication "7x7" from Korshunov's own words.
The young man said that he was formally expelled for missing 30% of classes, although other students could graduate from the university by missing up to 60% of classes. At the same time, he got an "excellent" grade in most subjects.
Korshunov was expelled in March of this year. He linked this to criticism of the new rector of RSU, former army major general Igor Murog.
"Why? Because our university is run by a not very talented person with an authoritarian mindset, who does not know how a machine like a university works and builds everything on his military habits, killing science, culture and common sense," Korshunov commented on his expulsion in March. "And I, relying on the opinion of the majority and the concepts of honor and conscience, told the truth about both this person and the situation at the university."
As reported by 7x7, Igor Murog became acting rector of RSU in November 2022. Previously, he headed a military school, was deputy governor and a deputy of the Ryazan Regional Duma from United Russia. Almost immediately after Murog took office, students demanded his dismissal. Students complained about the new rector's military management style. In particular, he closed the outdoor smoking room, approved assembly with the raising of the flag and ordered students to stand up when he appeared.
Due to the actions of the former military man, some of the RSU employees resigned. In April 2024, Igor Murog left the post of RSU rector and was appointed a senator from the Ryazan region.
