The court in Altai asks 9 years for a journalist for "fakes" about the army

The prosecutor's office asked the city-Altai city court to sentenced journalist Sergei Mikhailov to the nine years of the colony. In addition, they want to forbid him to engage in journalistic activities and administer sites.

According to Siberia. Realities, Sergei Mikhailov is accused of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army in the telegram channel and on the website of the local edition of the Listov, which he founded. In the news and posts, it was about the alleged war crimes of Russian soldiers, including the murder of civilians in the Ukrainian city of Buch and the destruction of civil objects in Ukraine.

Mikhailov stated that he was not related to publications on the site and in the telegram channel of the publication, since he acts only as the founder, and the chief editor makes decisions on publications and issuing materials. Viktor Rau said the editor -in -chief of the “leaflet” that he published “fakes”, of which Mikhailov is accused.

RAU himself left Russia and continues to publish in the channel "Leaf" News. He was also fined 120 thousand rubles under an administrative article on calls for sanctions against Russia.

• Mikhailov’s case began to be considered back in the spring of 2022. In the editorial office and at home, Mikhailov and the general director of the publication Olga Komarova were searches. Mikhailov was arrested in April 2022 and was in a pre-trial detention center in Gorno-Altaysk.
• In April 2023, the court returned the case to the prosecutor’s office due to the fact that it was not specified in the case, where and how Mikhailov committed a crime. However, the prosecutor's office was able to get the return of the case to court.
• The Russian courts recognize “fakes” and “discrediting”, actually recognize any information about the war in Ukraine, which contradicts the official position of the Kremlin. At least half of the sentences about the “fakes about the army” were issued due to statements about the murder of civilians in Ukraine by the Russian military.
• According to OVD-Info, since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Russia, 992 people became defendants in anti-war criminal cases.
