Moscow's Zamoskvoretsky Court has sent the son of Chechen billionaire Musa Bazhaev to pretrial detention. 23-year-old Timur Bazhaev was detained on Saturday night near Luzhniki after a scuffle with police, the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction Telegram channel reported .
The son of the president of the Alliance Group wanted to go to the Lastochka floating restaurant on the Moskva River embankment, bypassing the metal detector frame. An Interior Ministry colonel tried to stop Bazhaev, but, according to investigators, he did not listen and hit the policeman first - on the head, in the body and in the groin. Two more police officers were nearby, and a fight ensued. Bazhaev was eventually overpowered and detained. The injured policeman turned out to be the head of the public order department of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Central Administrative District of Moscow, Alexander Makhonin.
The identity of the victim was revealed shortly after the incident by State Duma deputy and deputy secretary of the General Council of United Russia Alexander Khinshtein. "No matter how respected a person the father is, this does not give the son the right to punch a police colonel in the face in the center of Moscow in broad daylight," the deputy wrote. Since the incident was captured on surveillance cameras, the culprit will not be able to escape responsibility, Khinshtein assured.
Timur Bazhaev did not admit his guilt. In the Zamoskvoretsky courtroom , he stated that he himself was the injured party and added: "I did not violate public order in any way."
The Investigative Committee, which opened a case on the use of violence against a government official (Article 318 of the Criminal Code), petitioned for the arrest of the detainee.
Timur's father Musa Bazhaev in an interview with Izvestia doubted his son's involvement in "wrong antisocial actions." But, the businessman added, "if my son is guilty and is involved somewhere, he will answer." Musa Bazhaev is in the top 200 of Forbes magazine, the businessman's fortune is estimated at 750 million dollars (64.2 billion rubles). Main assets: 40% of the company "Russian Platinum", 30% of the enterprise "Alliance Altyn", a small share in "Amur Gold". The Bazhaev family owns the resort Forte Village in Sardinia.
