Social networks argue for the third day due to the publications of Marina Ovsyannikova, who showed an anti-war poster during the live broadcast of the Time program. On her Instagram, Ovsyannikova said that she “relaxed” in Europe and does not think that she would return to Russia, which she calls the “country of slaves”. Now users of social networks argue whether a former employee of Russian state television has the right to such words.

“I relaxed .... Life in Europe is so easy, impressive and comfortable. Oysters of 6 euros per kg, Mozarella 1 euros, white Savignon wine 3.5 euros ...-July 28 was written on Instagram, ex-journalist of Channel One Marina Ovsyannikova (spelling and punctuation were preserved) . “It is lost by this Russia, the country of gentlemen is the country of slaves, I tried to change it, but it turned out to be impossible.”
Marina Ovsyannikova became known thanks to the protest on state television: on March 14, 2022, she burst into the studio during the live broadcast of the Time program with a poster against war and propaganda. After leaving Channel One, Ovsyannikova wrote the book “Between Good and Evil: as I finally opposed the Kremlin propaganda”, I visited Ukraine as a journalist Die Welt, received the Vaclav Gavel Award and gave interviews to foreign and Russian opposition media.
That Ovsyannikova said about her past
In March 2023, on the anniversary of her action, Ovsyannikova, in a conversation with the “cold” , said that, despite the 20 years of work at the “first”, she did not consider herself a propagandist because she “worked behind the scenes”.
“I believe that I was a man who sailed with the flow too long. I had to leave before, but I had a mountain of personal problems <...>. And for some reason I always thought that no one believes this propaganda, that we do it for the Kremlin officials who themselves produce it and consume it themselves. And like all normal, adequate people no longer look at Channel One. But, as it turned out, the number of zombie people in Russia is giant and this propaganda is really effective, people have no critical thinking. Of course, for me it was a shock. ”
In August 2022, a criminal case was opened against Ovsyannikova under the article “On Fakes” and put her under house arrest, but with the help of human rights activists she managed to leave Russia. After the escape of Ovsyannikova from the country, the court in absentia condemned her by 8.5 years.
The screenshot with the publication of Ovsyannikova spread through social networks, where her words caused a sharp criticism, including from famous activists and journalists. Many were outraged by the quote from Lermontov’s poem about the “country of slaves”, as well as Ovsyannikova’s words that she “tried to change something”.
One of the first to respond to her post was the independent journalist Farid Rustamov.
“The opposition has many wonderful people who are going to huge risks and victims who are beating for years for the truth who are in prisons that they kill. But there are, unfortunately, those who just want to live beautifully and burst oysters, ” wrote the comrades -in -arms of Alexei Navalny, director of the FBK Ivan Zhdanov.
“I went out once with a poster, I immediately received the Havel Award and doesn’t get out of a white coat anymore:“ Russian slaves! What a delicious mozzarella in Europe in the euro, ” wrote Mikhail Svetov.
The phrase Ovsyannikova about cheap oysters quickly turned into a meme, users began to publish the functions and parodies that ridiculed her.
At the same time, many spoke in support of Ovsyannikova, noting that she was not a politician and never sought to fight the regime and everyone has the right to personal happiness.
“Let him eat and drink everything that he considers necessary, isn't it? Putinsky climb into other people's beds, but will the opposition be in other people's plates? She is not an official, so there is a difference, ”wrote Love Sobol.
“Comrades of the Moralfags who switched to her-first go on a live broadcast with the“ No War ”poster, then sit under house arrest, and then run out of it. Then your “righteous” indignation will be better justified, ” wrote Boris Bondarev, the only Russian diplomat who openly opposed the war in Ukraine.
“Listen, the man came out with a poster. He behaved very cool. Well, then somewhere he wrote stupidity. Well, and? Would you go out with a poster? Measure yourself according to the coolest actions of the one you evaluate. Maybe then your grades will not be so sharp, ”Julia Latynina, Jenia Latynina, supported Ovsyannikov.
Ovsyannikova herself soon published a new post with the answer to critics.
“Yes, to all enemies in spite, I eat oysters, Mozarella and drink white wine in France. Travel around the world. I'm not going to sacrifice my life anymore. Since my life is alone. And no one will bring up my child except me.
My suitcases have long been unpacked. I will definitely not return to Russia in the near future. ”
