An explosion occurred at the Avangard plant in Sterlitamak, killing three people. This was reported to RBC Ufa by the state corporation Rostec, which owns the enterprise.
The explosion occurred in a workshop that was being prepared for demolition, Rostec said. A team of employees from the contractor Rustech was working in the building — they were dismantling a pipeline, “when the flash occurred.”
The Investigative Committee of Bashkortostan opened a criminal case on violation of safety requirements due to the death of three people at the plant (part 3 of article 217 of the Criminal Code).
According to the Investigative Committee, “during work to dismantle an old pipeline in an industrial building, a gas-air mixture ignited, resulting in three workers receiving thermal burns, from which they died at the scene of the incident.”
Avangard carries out state defense orders for the disposal of weapons and military equipment and is engaged in the production of chemical products and industrial explosives for blasting operations in oil, gas and other wells.
