Robot dogs have appeared in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Ukrainian Armed Forces units on the front in Donbass have begun using robotic dogs of the BAD.2 model from the British Brit Alliance to carry out combat missions. The head of the company, Kyle Thorburn, told the German publication Bild about this.

According to him, the Ukrainian military is already using several dozen such robots, which have already proven their effectiveness. Remotely controlled by an operator, the robot dogs are used for reconnaissance, detection and neutralization of mine traps, as well as defeating enemy manpower located in trenches, buildings and other shelters where a flying drone cannot penetrate.

"We were concerned about the increasing number of casualties on the frontline caused by enemy drones. So we looked into the possibility of a safer solution for reconnaissance missions in high-risk areas. <...> The results have been astounding. Our robotic dogs are carrying out reconnaissance missions on the frontline, reducing the risk to human soldiers. This not only improves the effectiveness of the war effort, but also boosts the morale of the army," Thorburn said.

As Bild notes, it is not easy for the Ukrainian military's robot dogs to fight their opponents. Thanks to thermal camouflage from the German Concamo, they are almost impossible to detect with thermal imagers. At the same time, the robot dogs can move almost silently at a speed of up to 15 kilometers per hour and operate for five hours within a radius of up to three and a half kilometers from their operator.

The cost of one robot dog, depending on the modification, is from four to six thousand euros. They were the first to enter service with the 28th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is conducting combat operations in Donbass.
