A case of “military fakes” was opened against Nizhny Novgorod high school students after a school denunciation over a YouTube video

A criminal case has been opened against two residents of Nizhny Novgorod under the article on "military fakes" (clause "b" of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). Both suspects have been detained, the regional department of the Investigative Committee reported .

According to the Investigative Committee, two Nizhny Novgorod residents posted a video on the Internet, which, according to the results of the examination, "contains deliberately false information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation against the civilian population of Ukraine." NN.ru, citing the FSB Directorate for the region, noted that the video was published on YouTube.

In addition, the special service said that the detainees are underage schoolchildren. The regional Ministry of Internal Affairs added that both young men were born in 2006. The school administration complained to the police about the students back in October 2023, the department said.

In November 2023, Astra wrote that two students from Nizhny Novgorod Lyceum No. 82 had been charged with “discrediting” the army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) because of a video on a Telegram channel with 26 subscribers. The publication claimed that the director of the lyceum, Nina Govorov, contacted the police.

In the video, the schoolchildren allegedly discussed Ukraine, Russia, school teachers, and allegedly criticized the Russian army. The video was recorded in the kitchen, where photographs of Vladimir Putin and Adolf Hitler were hanging, Astra wrote.

The Investigative Committee, FSB and Interior Ministry departments for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported on searches of the suspects' homes. The Investigative Committee added that the schoolchildren would soon be charged and a preventive measure would be chosen. The names of those detained are unknown.
