In Moscow, a man who stole a Lamborghini from a car wash was able to avoid trial. RIA Novosti reports this, citing case materials that were at its disposal.
They say that the man saw an elite sports car at one of the capital's car washes. He introduced himself to the service staff as the owner of the car, received the keys to it and drove away.
16 hours later, he was detained by traffic police officers in a stolen car. A criminal case was opened against the detainee under the article on illegal seizure of a car without the purpose of theft or hijacking.
However, he managed to avoid criminal liability thanks to the fact that he settled a conflict with the owner of the supercar.
The court ruling states that the hijacker fully admitted his guilt and repented of his actions. He also "made amends for the material and moral damage caused by the crime by transferring funds to the victim."
As a result, the criminal case was terminated on the basis of Article 25 of the Criminal Procedure Code due to reconciliation of the parties, the court told the agency.
