An American was arrested in Moscow after a skirmish with police after being refused check-in at a hotel

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow has remanded US citizen Joseph Tater, accused of using violence against a government official (Article 318 of the Criminal Code), into custody, the court press service reported .

The lawyer asked to assign Tater a preventive measure not related to custody, but the defense attorney was refused.

The day before, it became known that a criminal case had been opened against Tater: according to the investigation, on the night of August 12, he tried to check into the Radisson Blu Olympiyskiy Hotel, but was refused due to the lack of necessary documents, which is why he started swearing. The hotel staff called the police, Tater was taken to the department to draw up a report, where he hit a police officer.

After this, on the evening of August 14, the Meshchansky District Court sentenced Tater to 15 days of arrest for petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
