A case has been opened against a resident of Syktyvkar for calls to terrorism ( Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) due to comments on VKontakte, it is reported local media , citing the regional FSB department.
According to the security forces, the man is a "left-wing radical activist" and the comments he left contained "calls for terrorist activity in the form of an attack on the lives of government officials of the Russian Federation in order to stop their political activity." The man was detained.
17:35 The Syktyvkar City Court sent a local resident to a pretrial detention facility for two months under the article on justifying terrorism. This was reported by the court press service.
The man is accused of publishing comments in support of the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Russian Volunteer Corps from a personal account on a “popular video hosting site” from August 2023 to August 2024. It is unclear whether this is the same detainee whose news appeared earlier in regional media, or a different criminal case.
In a video published by the court press service, the judge pronounces the detainee’s last name, but not very clearly: it may sound like “Chagaev.”
August 22 The defendant in the case is most likely named Ilya Chugaev. A person with this name appeared on the list of "terrorists and extremists" of Rosfinmonitoring, reports the Telegram channel that publishes updates to the list.
