Pipelines are strategic and legal goals in military conflicts, Politalk Politalk said in the Politalk President Peter Pavel. So he answered the request to comment on the reports that for explosions on the Northern Stream - 1 and Northern Stream 2 gas pipelines are Ukrainians, Novinky reports.

In particular, Paul was asked if he considers Russian gas pipelines the legal goal of Ukraine. To which the president of the Czech Republic replied:

When an armed conflict is underway, it is carried out not only for military purposes, but also against objects of strategic nature. And pipelines are strategic goals. If the attack were aimed at stopping gas and oil supplies to Europe and the return of money to Russia, then I specifically say “conditionally” - this would be a legal goal.

At the same time, he emphasized that he does not have information confirming the involvement of Ukraine in explosions. Paul noted that the attack on the Northern Streams entailed “certain difficulties” for the European Union, but not the ones that they could not cope with.

The interview of the President of the Czech Republic was commented by the official representative of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova. She called the Czech leader a “shocking marginal” and compared his words with the statements of al-Qaeda terrorists and ISIS .

• Explosions on the North Stream - 1 and Northern Stream 2 gas pipelines occurred in September 2022 near the Danish Island of Bournholm in the Baltic Sea. As a result, three of the four threads of gas pipelines were damaged.
