Alexander Malich was appointed director of the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Russian Ministry of Culture reported. He replaced Sergei Emelyanov, who served as director since 2021.
According to the theater website, Alexander Malich is a journalist, a television and radio host. He worked on the St. Petersburg channel of 100V, Rox and Neva FM radio stations, conducted projects on the TV channels, 78, Medici TV and Russia-Culture.
In the Alexandrinsky Theater, Malich has been operating since 2019. Earlier, he served as the general producer of the new scene.
- In the spring of 2023, the Alexandrinsky Theater canceled the shows of the play “Sirano de Bergerak”, staged at that time, the chief director Nikolai Roshchin. As reported, one of the spectators wrote a statement to the police on the director, seeing the signs of the “discredit” of the Russian army. The actors of Alexandrinka stated that during the audit the police did not find violations.
