Body of missing Russian woman found in Mauritius

The body of 29-year-old Russian citizen Zaliya Shamigulova, who went missing several days ago, has been found on the island of Mauritius. This was reported by the local newspaper L'Express, citing police officers from the cities of Flic-en-Flac and Vacoas.

Shamigulova went missing on August 18, RBC reported, citing the press service of the Russian embassy in Mauritius. Two days later, the missing woman's friend Elena Guseva contacted diplomats.

The Baza Telegram channel reported that Shamigulova went for a walk with a friend who is a citizen of Mauritius, and soon after that her phone became unavailable and stopped transmitting geolocation. The Telegram channel, citing relatives of the missing woman, also wrote that "local acquaintances of the girl are suspicious," and the police are not sharing details about the progress of the investigation.

The girl's body was found on August 21. The unnamed male suspect confessed to her murder and said he buried the body in the city of La Marie. He reportedly stabbed Shamigulova several times.

In addition, according to Baza, the day before the girl's body was discovered, her relatives received messages that she had allegedly decided to disappear from sight and that there was no need to look for her. Other details of this case are unknown.

Zaliya Shamigulova, as the media writes, is originally from Chelyabinsk. She arrived on the island in early June and stayed in an apartment in Flic-en-Flac. The girl was supposed to return to Russia on September 1.
