A railway ferry with 30 fuel tanks was attacked in the waters of the port of Kavkaz near the Kerch Strait. A fire broke out on the vessel, which emergency services tried to fight. However, they were unable to save the ferry, it sank, Kommersant reported , citing the operational headquarters.
The attack occurred at around 4:30 p.m., with eyewitnesses reporting several explosions. The ferry was moored to the port's quay wall at the time of the attack, the task force reported. There were five people on board, their fate is still unknown.
A fire train was sent to the scene to put out the fire, more than a hundred people and 34 units of equipment fought the fire. Emergency services reported that other ships and the port itself were not damaged by the fire.
Almost simultaneously with the strike, traffic on the Crimean Bridge was blocked. In Sevastopol, sea and land transport were also suspended. By 17:15, traffic was resumed.
The Baza Telegram channel reported that the ferry was called the Conro Trader and that the number of casualties could reach 15 people. The Shot Telegram channel wrote that the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the ferry with a Neptune anti-ship missile, presumably launched from the Odessa region. Mash claims that the ferry was called the Aquatrader and was damaged by a Storm Shadow missile strike.
Representatives of Ukraine did not comment on the attack.
