Fraudsters began to send spam with a request to transfer cryptocurrency to help Pavel Durov

Experts of the Kaspersky Lab found a postal spam newsletter in English, in which scammers collect money allegedly to help the founder of Telegram Pavel Durov, detained in France. This was reported on August 26 by Interfax with reference to the company's statement.

Spam-mailing on behalf of supposedly human rights organizations began to be sent the day after the first news on the detention of Pavel Durov, the company noted.

Fraudsters in their letters “claim that they are striving to ensure the freedom of Pavel Durov and protect the rights of people around the world,” say “Kaspersky Laboratory”. The recipients of letters are asked to “contribute to this business” and transfer the cryptocurrency to one of the specified wallets.

In their messages, the authors of the letters change the wording to overcome filters, avoid repetitions and use synonyms like “help” and “support” and “Support”), “sacrifice” and “assemble” (“Donate” and “Raise” ), and also change the names of organizations, on behalf of which they allegedly raise funds.

• France police detained Pavel Durov on August 24, when he flew on a private plane to Paris. He was detained as part of a criminal investigation, begun on July 8 in relation to unidentified persons on 12 corpus delicti. Now Durov is interrogated by investigators.
