The Ministry of Internal Affairs apologized to the picketer for the fine

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region has issued an official apology to Dmitry Bakhtin, the father of a child with SMA, for whom the parents sought treatment, including through street protests. This was reported by the publication "7x7".

Misha Bakhtin's parents had been trying for a long time to get the state to provide him with the expensive treatment for spinal muscular atrophy that he was entitled to under the law. The authorities refused under various pretexts, and, according to the boy's parents, they were simply afraid that by providing treatment to one child, they would be forced to do the same for others. In the end, the Bakhtins managed to get the medicine, including thanks to numerous solo pickets that his father held.

Bakhtin Sr. attended one of these protests in Yekaterinburg on February 15, when Putin was visiting. Local security forces detained the picketer and drew up a report on him for violating the rules for holding public protests, according to which the man was fined 10 thousand rubles.

The fine was later cancelled, and the court ordered the police to pay Bakhtin 55,000 rubles as compensation for the illegal detention. Bakhtin also demanded an apology, but did not receive one and went to court again.

As a result, he managed to achieve his goal. "We apologize for the police officers initiating a case against you for an administrative offense," the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs leadership wrote in a letter to Bakhtin.

It also states that additional training has been conducted with police officers to study the requirements of administrative legislation.
