For the first time since the beginning of the war, drones attacked the Kirov region

In the city of Kotelnich, Kirov Region, on the morning of August 28, drones allegedly attacked a tank with petroleum products. This was announced by the governor of the region, Alexander Sokolov.

As Baza clarifies , according to preliminary data, drones attacked a warehouse with petroleum products at the Vyatka plant. Baza claims that there were three drones in total, and after one of them hit, one of the tanks caught fire. Baza publishes a video of the supposed moment of impact, which shows that a fire started.

The Unified Duty Dispatch Service subsequently reported that the strikes on the facility in the city of Kotelnich were carried out by five allegedly Ukrainian drones. “There were no injuries, smoke was detected,” the dispatch service said, noting that a kerosene tank was hit. Governor Sokolov said that the fire had been extinguished.

The Ukrainian military has not yet commented on the reports. Kotelnich is located about one and a half thousand kilometers from the border with Ukraine. There have been no previously reported drone attacks in this Russian region, however, according to available data, Ukrainian drones have previously attacked equally or even more remote Russian regions, including the Murmansk region and Bashkortostan.

In the Voronezh region, after “fragments of a drone fell near explosive objects,” two settlements were evacuated. Governor Alexander Gusev announced this. “There was no detonation,” he wrote on his Telegram channel. According to him, in the early morning of August 28, a Ukrainian drone was shot down in the region.

Operational services decided to temporarily evacuate residents of two settlements. “The fire was extinguished by local forces. The situation has stabilized. Residents are returning to their homes,” says the head of the Voronezh region.

Gusev’s description suggests that the drone fell on or near an ammunition depot, but the governor does not directly write about this.

The Astra telegram channel, citing local residents, writes that drones attacked an ammunition depot on the Malaya Mezhenka farm.

“Residents of this farm and the village of Evstratovka were first evacuated, but now they are allowed to return home,” Astra reports.

On August 24, in the Ostrogozhsky district of the Voronezh region, an ammunition warehouse caught fire as a result of a night drone attack. More than 600 residents fled their homes due to the detonation .

In the Rostov region, as previously reported, an oil depot caught fire after a drone attack on Wednesday night.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defenses shot down 12 Ukrainian drones overnight. Eight drones were shot down over the Voronezh region and four over the Rostov region. The Ministry of Defense does not write anything about the consequences of a drone attack on the ground.

On the morning of August 28, a representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency announced the introduction of temporary restrictions at Kazan Airport - it does not accept or send flights. What this is connected with is not specified. Telegram channel Baza writes that the airport could temporarily suspend operations due to the threat of a drone attack.

Later, another airport in Tatarstan, in Nizhnekamsk, suspended operations. It temporarily does not accept or dispatch flights, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported .

• Russian oil depots and ammunition depots are regularly attacked by Ukrainian drones. Officially, Kyiv usually does not comment on them.
