"Do not try to leave the country"

In Azerbaijan, anti -war journalists continue. Siloviki are looking for new "witnesses"

On Tuesday in Azerbaijan, the journalist and philosopher-research philosopher Javid Aga stopped in touch. As it turned out later, he was detained at the airport by employees of the State Security Service.

This is not the first detention of civil activists in Azerbaijan in recent days. On August 21, a journalist Bakhruz Samadov, now accused of Gosizmen and relations with Armenia, was captured at his own house in Baku. On Friday, August 23, while trying to fly out in Tbilisi, his friend Samad Shiha was detained.

Javid yeah was detained in less than a week. According to the OC Media publication, with whom the detainee collaborated, that day aha went to the airport to fly to Lithuania to study. After passing the inspection at the airport, Javid had to call relatives, but never got in touch. Later, to the airline to loved ones, aha confirmed that there is no passenger with that name aboard their aircraft.

Familiar and colleagues suggested that he could detain the employees of the State Security Service - just as Bakhruza Samadov, with whom the aha was familiar. Both opposed the war with Armenia.

On the same day, after a few hours, Javid nevertheless got in touch and confirmed the fears of friends. On the network of X, he published a short message that reported that he was detained as a witness in the case of Bakhruz Samadov. He also wrote that he was "safe and did not suffer, did not sleep for a long time and is now going to his home." Despite the release, Javid refused to talk from New Evrop, referring to the fact that "the investigation is still ongoing." Yeah also wrote that he did not experience pressure and was not close to Samadov, so he was useless for state security organs, after which he deleted correspondence.

A similar story happened with Samad Shiha, a friend of Bakhruz Samadov, accused of Gosizman. After the visit to the department of state security, Shiha reported in social networks that he testified to Samadov and was released, receiving the status of a witness. In his testimony, the young man indicated that Samadov “organized a meeting with some Armenians abroad for him and completely financed this event. Familiar Shihi believe that this is a lie, and the activist could write a post under torture. At the same time, Shihi himself refused to discuss what happened to friends. Today he is still in Azerbaijan.

- Javid yeah is a researcher and blogger more popular on Twitter than [President Ilham] Aliyev. Aliyev wants to subjugate the areas of activity in the country, to control the issue of “world -building”.

Currently, about fifty anti -war activists remain in Azerbaijan [at large], the rest are either in prison or fled from the country. I hope I will not become the hero of your next article,

Azerbaijani activist Giyas Ibrahim believes that the next round of repression may be associated with preparing for a new war with Armenia - or with the future climatic summit of the UN in Baku. One way or another, he considers Ibrahim, to people at risk, now it is better not to attract attention:

- There is no other way out yet. Do not try to leave the country. Maybe they will not touch them at all - in any case it is unlikely - but if you try to get out, they will bark even more, they are paranoid.

Meanwhile, news of the fate of the activist of Bakhruz Samadov, who became the first in a series of these strange detentions, continue to act. He reports that he is in a single chamber, he is not allowed to take books and even sit down at a wrong time. He can only call his grandmother Zibade Osmanova, who raised him. On August 28, Osmanova went with a portrait of her grandson to the office of the Azerbaijan authorized human rights of Sabina Aliyeva (President’s namesake), but the Ombudsman apparatus has not yet reacted to the detention of her grandson.
