At the end of the summer of 2015, Karina Zalesova, a 16-year-old schoolgirl from Novosibirsk, did not return home. Parents phoned hospitals and morgues, but never found a daughter. They learned about her fate from the police: Karin was killed by her former boyfriend. Relatives of the killer insisted: this is an attempt to suicide and Karina herself asked their son about this. "Cold" tells what happened that evening.

On August 28, 2015, 16-year-old Karina Zalesova first met with future classmates in a new school. The father - Sergey Zalesov, took her to the meeting.
Karina is the only child of Zalesovs. She received grades “excellent” at school, studied Japanese herself, at the beginning of summer she successfully passed the exams and dreamed of becoming a doctor in the future. Then the parents decided to send it to where there was a specialized chemical-biological class, and transferred to school No. 23 in the Kalinin district of Novosibirsk.
In the evening, the Zalesovs wanted to celebrate the new academic year at a family dinner, but Karina asked for a short time to walk after the meeting. By six o’clock in the evening, she promised to be at home.
But Karina did not return in time. Parents tried to get through to her, but at first she did not pick up the phone, and then her phone became “outside the access zone”. The Zalesovs knew that Karina was responsible and that she could not disappear without saying anything to anyone. Thinking that the daughter’s phone could simply be discharged, Sergey Zalesov decided to meet her at the bus stop. But Karina never arrived.
Parents remembered that that morning someone called Karin. Having worried, they began to call Karina's friends, and then to city hospitals and morgues. Their daughter was never found, and Zalesov called the police.

"Very good boy"
On that day, Mark Konkov called in front of Karina’s ruler - her former boyfriend.
They met a few years ago at the birthday of a common girlfriend and began to correspond often. Karina told her parents that she was talking with a "very good boy." She considered Mark very smart and told her relatives that he "re -read everything Dostoevsky."
Her parents brought Karina to Karina’s first date: it was important for them to see what the one who invited her looks like. Konkov seemed to them “extremely sociable” and capable of talking with adults on equal terms. “A smart guy, he will go far, not developed over the years,” said Zaleskova’s father then.
Mark's father is a Novosibirsk businessman Igor Konkov, who owned 11 metal processing companies and construction. Mother Mark Natalya is a psychologist. There are five children in their family.
Mark was visiting Zalesov several times, but basically Karina came to him herself. She explained this by the fact that his family lives in a large house, and spending time there is more convenient for them there than in their “cramped” apartment.
Over time, Karina and Mark's relationship began to deteriorate. Karina often began to come home upset and wrote to her friends that Mark had a “not quite stable mental state”, he began to behave too aggressively and now they will often quarrel. Karina explained the changes in his character by the fact that Mark contacted bad companies and, for example, almost stopped sleeping, "to get some effect from this, as if from drugs." Karina's friends said that Mark often insulted her and could raise her hand on her, but Karina forgave him.
Noticing that her daughter began to come home in tears, Karina's parents advised her to stop talking to Marka, since he “makes her cry.” Karina’s mother, worrying about her daughter’s condition, wanted to call Mark's parents and talk to them, but Karina dissuaded her, promising that she would part with him.
About two months after the start of their relationship, as Karina’s friend recalls , Mark and Karina broke up .
They broke up six months before Karina’s loss - at least so she told her parents. Karina’s friends, whom her boyfriend also annoyed, several times heard that she would part with Mark, but then they began to communicate again.
In the evening of August 28, 2015, the police were called not only Zalesovs, but also the Konkovs.

Soon, the police arrived on the call of the loss of a teenage girl and confirmed the identity of the murdered person-she turned out to be 16-year-old Karina Zalesova.

The day after the murder, the judge of the Pervomaisky district court Elena Lakhina placed Mark under house arrest. Karina's parents were “in shock” when they learned about the chosen extent of suppression. They were frightened that they could “let go on the brakes, and decided to talk about what happened on the city Internet forum. With the help of forum users, the family was able to find a lawyer.
The murder of Karina caused a resonance in city forums and groups. The townspeople launched a petition demanding to arrest Mark Konkov - in less than a week it was signed by about 100 thousand people. And the Novosibirsk City Hall submitted an application for a rally against house arrest Mark with the participation of two thousand people, but the authorities were not agreed .
Under public pressure, investigators appealed the court’s decision - and on September 9, 2015, the brand imprisoned . Experts revealed a schizotypic disorder and a “likely tendency to sadism” from him.

Karina's parents asked the court to sentenced Mark to 10 years in the colony-the maximum possible term, which can be condemned by 16-year-old. They also wanted to recover 20 million rubles from Konkov’s family for moral damage and funeral costs. And they said that their daughter was not going to commit suicide.
Mark's father refused to compensate for moral damage and continued to insist on the version of double suicide. During the investigation, he also managed to sell and close his business and re -register real estate so that the court could not recover his property.
The side of the defense claimed that Mark allegedly killed Karin at her request, and then tried to hang himself, but was saved. According to his lawyer Irina Nokhrina, at first he delivered one blow to Karina with a knife in his neck and was sure that after him she would die. When this did not happen, he continued to strike - "with the aim of an early infliction of death so that it does not suffer."
When the court interrogated the witnesses and studied the case materials, the line reached the interrogation of Mark himself. He denied the version of double suicide, saying: "He wanted to kill - and killed."

Mark inflicted about 25 stab wounds. He also beat her with a fist and a wooden figurine. When Karina died, Mark called her friend from her phone to tell him how he killed her. The smartphone could only be unlocked with the imprint of her finger, so he brought him to the body of already dead Karina. When Mark phoned his friend and began to tell him about the murder, he hung up: he could not listen to it and did not believe that Mark did this.
Mark's friend confirmed at the court that he really called him from Karina’s phone on the day of the murder, said that she asked to leave her alive, promising anyone not to report on the attack. Cutting the girl, Mark admitted to a friend that "killing is nice."
According to a friend, Mark planned suicide, and Karin killed to "there was no way back." Shortly before the murder, Mark gave his friend his phone and computer.

On October 31, 2016, the Pervomaisky District Court of Novosibirsk sentenced Mark Konkov to nine years in the colony. He was also prescribed forced treatment with a psychiatrist at the place of serving a sentence. From the parents of Mark, the court decided to recover two million rubles as non -pecuniary damage and 300 thousand rubles of compensation for the costs of burial, but then this part of the sentence was canceled . Later, in 2017, when Mark was 18 years old, the court issued a new decision: compensation to the parents of the murdered was obliged to pay him himself, and not his parents. The amount was also reduced - to 860 thousand rubles to each of the parents. This money does not pay this money.
He was also transferred from educational to a correctional colony. In December 2016, the media reported that he tried to commit suicide, but survived.
While in the colony, Mark refused to fulfill the instructions of the chief of the detachment. It was repeatedly placed in a penalty area, and in May 2021 it was recognized as a malicious violator of the content regime, after which it was transferred to more stringent conditions of the content - into a single room of the chamber type.
In December 2023, Mark Konkov was released. Over the years spent in the colony, he received several dozen disciplinary sanctions and was registered as inclined to membership and suicide. The characteristic received after the release indicates that he never stood on the path of correction.
