The last time Mendes spoke in November 2023 “with full halls in Paris, London and Barcelona,” the musician’s family said.
Serzhio Mendes was born in the Brazilian city with a Nieter in 1941 in the family of a doctor. He received a musical education at the local conservatory, where he studied the game on the piano. In the late 1950s, he began to perform in nightclubs, where he performed music in the Bossa-Nova style popular in those years.
Together with his group, he released two albums that were poorly sold, after which they invited the American singer Lanie Hall to the team. In 1966, the group released the Herb Alpert Presents Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66, which became Platinov. In many ways, this happened because of the Caver for the song Mas Que Nada. “This was the first time that the song in Portuguese became a hit in America and all over the world,” Mendes himselfsaid .
In 2006, Serzhio Mendes would rewrite this track along with The Black Eyed Peas.
Mendes and his group will bring even more popularity at the Oscar Award ceremony in 1968, where he performed the look of Love written by a loud bachelor and Hal David.
In subsequent years, Mendes will experiment a lot with various musical genres and cooperate with many musicians. In 1993, he released the Album Brasileiro, who brought him the Grammy Award. In 2006, Mendes released the Timeless album, which, in addition to The Black Eyed Peas, was attended by Justin Timberlake, John Ledden, Q-Tip and other musicians.
