An explosion occurred at a gas station near Makhachkala, emergency services told Interfax.
Allegedly, at about 17:30, a gas station exploded at the turn from the federal highway R-217 (Caucasus) to the village of Novy Khushet.
The explosion killed four people, including a child, the disaster medicine center told RIA Novosti. According to telegram channels, from four to eight people were injured. Acting Minister of Health of Dagestan Yaroslav Glazov said that four people were injured, two of them were hospitalized with burns.
The causes and circumstances of the explosion are being clarified, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs said. The prosecutor's office organized an investigation. Police and rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene of the explosion. Soon the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, arrived at the scene.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the indication of services that do not meet safety requirements (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code). September 28 has been declared a day of mourning in Dagestan, said the head of the republic, Sergei Melikov.
