The Israel Defense Forces attacked Hezbollah's central headquarters, which is located in the southern suburb of Dahiya in the Lebanese capital Beirut, the IDF said in a statement.

According to IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari, the headquarters was located under residential buildings. According to the Israeli portal Ynet, the target of the attack was Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Khagari did not specify whether the army managed to achieve its goal.

According to a source from the Arabic TV channel Al Hadath, Hassan Nasrallah survived the attack and plans to make an appeal soon. AFP also reports that Nasrallah is alive, citing a source.

A source close to Hezbollah told AFP that the airstrike in Beirut destroyed six buildings.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who came to the United States to speak at the UN General Assembly, interrupted his briefing with reporters and announced that he was returning home, cutting his visit short.

Khagari added that there have been no changes in the instructions of the command of the Logistics Service, which is responsible for the safety of the country’s residents in war conditions.
