Actress Maggie Smith died

British actress Maggie Smith died at the age of 89, BBC News reports citing a statement by her sons Toby Stevens and Chris Larkin.

According to them, Smith spent the last days of her life surrounded by relatives in the London Hospital Chelsea and Westminster.

Maggie Smith is a lady-commander of the Order of the British Empire, she has two Oscars, seven BAFTA prizes, four Emmy, three Golden Globes, five US Awards Awards.

Smith played in the cinema and theater since 1952. She is known for dozens of roles, including Countess Violet Crowley in the historical drama "Abbey downton" and professor Minerva McGonagall in Harry Potter films.
