The Ministry of Internal Affairs will open information from the register of illegal migrants to everyone

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has revealed the principle of operation of the public register of controlled persons for migrants, the law on the creation of which Vladimir Putin signed in August, Vedomosti writes .

According to the publication, the list of illegal migrants will be public - it will be published on the official portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In this case, only data on the presence of a foreigner on the list will become publicly available.

The rest of the information will be closed: full last name, first name and patronymic, date of birth, gender, series and number of the identity document. In addition, after being included in the register, migrants will be able to be tracked by geolocation and their location determined, the publication notes.

• In August, Vladimir Putin signed a law that introduces a new legal regime for deportation of illegal migrants in Russia. In addition to creating a register of controlled persons, the law stipulates the right of internal affairs officers to enter premises where a “controlled person” may be located, as well as check any documents, including those containing tax or banking secrets.

• Once included in this register, illegal migrants will not be able to drive cars, use banking services, register property, enter into and dissolve marriages, or register children in kindergartens and schools.
