Alexander Permyakov received a life sentence for the attempt on the life of writer and combatant Zakhar Prilepin on May 6, 2023. The verdict was handed down today by the 2nd Western District Military Court.
In court, Permyakov admitted guilt and testified, but did not speak in court debates. For the murder of Prilepin, he allegedly was supposed to receive 20 thousand euros.
The prosecutor called the degree of public danger of the crime committed by Permyakov, which he committed with the help of two mines, “colossal”.
The investigation established that Permyakov, who had previously been convicted and took part in hostilities against Ukraine in 2015, then went to its territory, where he began to cooperate with the special services and allegedly received an order from them to kill Prilepin, for which he came to Russia in 2022 .
Here, through Vkontakte, under a false name, he allegedly contacted Prilepin’s son and learned his route of movement. In Permyakov’s phone, investigators allegedly found correspondence with an SBU operative regarding the laying of mines and the figure of Prilepin.
According to the prosecution, following the instructions of Ukrainian curators, Permyakov installed an explosive device and on May 6, 2023, was able to blow up a car in which Prilepin was riding in the passenger seat. As a result of the assassination attempt, the driver died on the spot, and Zakhar Prilepin was injured; he underwent operations, after which he was able to recover.
Zakhar Prilepin is a former famous writer and then an employee of the Moscow Art Theater. In 2014, he was the military correspondent of the LDPR, and since 2015, an adviser to the subsequently killed head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko. In 2016-2018 he served as deputy battalion commander in the DPR army. In 2022, he supported the Northern Military District and became one of its ideologists, and also took up arms and the position of deputy commander of the Oplot regiment, in which he served as a political instructor.
Prilepin entered politics for the third time as a “national patriot” - within the project “A Just Russia - For Truth!”, which was created after uniting with the party of Sergei Mironov, but then refused the mandate of a State Duma deputy. Previously, he opposed Putin and for fair elections, and in his youth he was a National Bolshevik*.
