Ivan was born in the Lugansk region in a small town. Until 2014, he had an ordinary life: he studied at school in Ukrainian, communicated with friends in Russian, and went on excursions with classmates to Kyiv and Moscow. Everything changed after the Euromaidan and subsequent events - Ivan’s hometown came under the control of the “LPR” authorities.

Ivan worked as a miner, but his salary was hardly enough to live on. Then an acquaintance offered him a job - in Russia. So Ivan moved, and later went to serve in the Russian army.
