A court in Moscow arrested Alexandra Zhitenko, who worked as a dishwasher in the Cadet Corps of the Investigative Committee, who is accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization, Kommersant reports .
From the court ruling found by Meduza, it follows that Zhitenko was arrested on July 26. The document states that the case was initiated on July 25, 2024 (under Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code), and the next day Zhitenko was detained and arrested for two months. At the end of September, her arrest was extended until the end of December. The essence of the charges is not disclosed in the court ruling.
According to Kommersant, Zhitenko was accused of participating in the activities of the Artpodgotovki movement. It was founded by politician Vyacheslav Maltsev, in 2020 the court declared it terrorist, a year later this decision came into force and the FSB added the movement to the list of terrorist organizations.
Zhitenko, as Kommersant writes, was sent for a psychological and psychiatric forensic examination (this is also mentioned in the court ruling). If she turns out to be sane, she will be charged in the final version. Then the case will be sent for approval to the prosecutor’s office and the 2nd Western District Military Court, writes Kommersant. Zhitenko's defense disagrees with the accusation.
According to the publication, several more people are involved in the same case, including the leading specialist of the structural unit of Russian Railways, Alexey Demchenko. Kommersant writes that testimony against Zhitenko and Demchenko was given to the FSB by one of the activists who decided to cooperate with the investigation.
TASS also wrote about the case against Demchenko. According to the agency, a man named Martyanov gave evidence against him. In the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring, as TASS drew attention, there is Yuri Anatolyevich Martyanov, born in 1970 in the city of Kaltan, Kemerovo region, Demchenko is from the same place. Other details of the case are unknown.
